Crimson color. Red berries, cherries, soft spices and an earthy undertone dominate the nose. Medium body where red fruit also manifests itself, accompanied by fine noble tannins and a pleasant acidity that keeps the whole nicely in balance. Wood components come last and lead in the blissfully long finish.
Delicious with all kinds of poultry, but also with red meat, lamb, fine game or just to enjoy on its own.
- climate
-
Continental climate that is dry and very warm in winter as well as in summer. In some places almost desert. So irrigation is almost required. Due to the high temperatures, the grapes remain smaller than elsewhere and give more concentration to the wine.
- soil
-
Sandy soils with slightly more granite and pebbly sandstone in the higher vineyards.
- vinification
-
After the grapes are picked, they are first exposed to extremely low temperatures for 3-4 days. Then they are only slightly crushed. Fermentation and malolactic fermentation can begin. This is done in stainless steel tanks and a bit of French oak. The wine is then aged in French oak barrels for 24 months. After a light filtering, it is then bottled.
